When asked to design a double ender for a fibreglass sailboat, Stan Huntingford came up with the 1949 design he had from the wooden built Tradewinds Cutter. Stan and Windship Marine in North Vancouver used the design to produce about 12 boats called Noon Ocean 34. Production started around 1974 with many laid up around 1976 and finished later as kits. These were later produced in Taiwan and called the True North 34.
The True North 34 can be identified from the Noon Ocean 34 by having plank lines built into the hull. Many Noon Ocean 34's are referred to as a True North 34.
